Four UPH Industrial Engineering students (from left to right: Fernando, Wibowo, Gloria, and Petrick) won 3rd place in Lomba Keilmuan Teknik Industri held by Universitas Indonesia from 9th to 13th March 2014. This competition was participated by 25 teams who were short-listed at the preliminary round where they had to make a paper about airlines. Those 25 teams came from various state and private universities in Indonesia, such as Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Andalas, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Bina Nusantara, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Universitas Pelita Harapan, Universitas Sumatera Utara, President University, Universitas Katholik Parahyangan, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November, Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia, Universitas Kristen Petra, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Surabaya and Universitas Sebelas Maret,
After going through two stages of elimination rounds, five teams who proceeded to final round were Universitas Pelita Haparan 1, Universitas Indonesia 1, Institut Teknologi Bandung 2, Bina Nusantara 1, and Bina Nusantara 2. These five teams competed in the final round where they did a case study upon Garuda Indonesia (one of the biggest airlines in Indonesia). Finally, in the closing ceremony, it was announced that Universitas Indonesia 1 came in the 1st place, Institut Teknologi Bandung came in the 2nd place, and Universitas Pelita Harapan came in the 3rd place.
